After the devastating defeat in the Second World War, Japan rose from the ashes of chaos to the peaceful prosperity. Hidetoshi Shibata is long remembered for his self-imposed mission to render all he could do to help create the new prosperous Japan.

His versatility as a journalist whose energetic activities encompassed multiple areas of media enabled him to establish a network of fraternity with a number of influential persons from all walks of life.  His affinity with many influential personalities in the United States as well as in Japan helped him to emerge as a leading organizer in the postwar period.  He was trusted by the Imperial Household as well as by the Prime Minister Shigeru Yoshida and his political proteges. He also became one of the most valued friends of the GHQ SCAP.

Hidetoshi Shibata successfully negotiated as a mediator to settle the most controversial labor dispute in the postwar history in Japan at the Yomiuri. He characterized himself as the driving force in many other events that were critical for Japanfs adaptation to the new era. He played a key role for founding of gthe Nippon Television Network Corporationh, for the inauguration of the g Atomic Energy for Peaceh. In addition, he was the architect of the golf boom in Japan. Because of these and many other achievements, he is rightfully called gthe Producer of the Postwar Japanh.
